THE MARTIAN WAVE

The Martian Wave publishes science fiction works that center around the exploration and colonization of outer space, with an emphasis on our solar system. If it’s not about that subject, then it’s not right for TMW. We will be switching to a quarterly zine, with publication dates of January, April, July, and October.

RESPONSE TIMES

All submissions will receive a response within two months of being submitted. It’s usually a lot quicker, but as we’ve all learned recently, things sometimes happen that are beyond our control…so I will endeavor to respond quicker than two months, but I won’t guarantee it. Due to bad experiences in the past, I will still only rarely comment on rejected manuscripts. Sorry, but a few people that can’t take constructive criticism have ruined it for everyone.

FICTION

Fiction must revolve around the zine’s theme, no exceptions. Stories set in our solar system will be my priority, but I will certainly accept stories set outside of our solar system. If I've passed on one of your pieces in the past, and my reason was that the story didn't take place in our solar system, please feel free to resubmit.

I’m looking for stories up to 7,500 words, although I will consider queries for longer stories. I will now also consider reprints for fiction only, but all reprint submissions MUST be marked as such. I will still not read simultaneous submissions. Payment for first rights will be $10. Payment for reprints will be $5 paid on publication.

POETRY

For poetry, it’s the same thing. Poems must revolve around the idea of the colonization and exploration of space. Payment will be $5 per poem, on publication for first rights. No reprints or simultaneous submissions.

ART

We are no longer seeking art submissions for this zine.

FORMATS

All submissions must be sent as attachments in either Word or rtf. I will read submissions that are sent pasted into messages, but I'd prefer attachments.

FINAL NOTES

Don’t send work that is based in other people’s universes. All works must be original with no threat of copyright infringement. All submissions should be sent to martianwaveNOSPAM@samsdotpublishing.com, removing the words "NOSPAM" from the address.
