My Name ~ "Buburuz" is the Romanian word for "lady bug."

Where I've Peddled My Work ~ Over the years, I've sold my horror stories, poems, art, reviews and articles to the editors of such wonderful magazines as Book of Dark Wisdom, Tales of the Talisman, Midnight Street, Dark Discoveries, Illumen, The Deepening, Hungur, Flashshot, City Slab: Urban Tales of the Grotesque (USA), UnderWorlds (USA), Dark Angel Rising (USA), Maelstrom (UK), Space and Time (USA), Black October Magazine (USA), Dark Regions (USA), Flesh and Blood Magazine (USA), Gauntlet (USA), Aoife's Kiss (USA), Between Kisses (USA), Midnight Zoo (USA), The Sterling Web (USA), The Roswell Literary Review (USA), 7-Realms Publishing (USA), the Tourniquet Heart anthology (UK/USA), Gotta Write LitMag (USA), Northern Fusion (Canada), Shivers Magazine (Canada), The White Wall Review (Canada), Elbow Creek (USA), Dark Muse (USA), Bloodsongs (Australia), Antipodean SF (Australia), Probe (Africa), the Nasty Snips anthology (South Wales), Enigmatic Tales (England), Nasty Piece of Work (England), Colonies SF (England), Sierra Heaven (England), Kimota (England) Albedo One (Ireland), Noesis SF Magazine (England), Grotesque (Ireland), and Edge (Japan).

Things I Write About and the Images I Create ~ To gain an audience for my stories, I've written about inmates of insane asylums and seniors homes, freaks and oddities, futuristic pregnancies, alien abductions of famous people, Indian medicine men, potionists, the impact of religious teachings on childhood and adulthood, gypsies, vampires, mermaids, ghouliebockers, serial killers, life in the backwoods, the boogey man, the treatment of criminals in futuristic societies, serial killers, and anything else that's tainted and tantalized my imagination over the years.
Art also fills my days and nights and I've designed many covers for genre magazines and chapbooks. I've also designed t-shirt art and tattoos, greeting cards, stickers for kids, stationery, mousepads, posters for bands, covers for CDs and tapes, story and poetry illustrations.

Favorite Responses from Editors ~

1...."I'm not sure whether or not I like your art but it will appear on the cover of the next issue."
2...."Your name sells magazines but I don't like any of the work you've submitted here."
3...."I don't trust a poet who submits in Old English script."
4...."Your check is in the mail."

My Favorite Writers ~ F. Paul Wilson, Elizabeth Massie, Stephen King, Edgar A. Poe, Elizabeth Engstrom, Ken Wisman, Alan Caitlin, Jack Fisher, Cliff Burns, The Brothers Grimm, and John Steinbeck, to name a select few.

My Favorite Artists ~ Andrée Gendron, Tyra Buburuz, Maxine Noel, Marge B. Simon, Charles S. Fallis, Allen Koszowski, David L. Transue, Ron Leming, Iain Maynard, and Horvath Akos. Actually, there are way too many to list here.

My Pet Peeves ~

1....Fat people who insist on drinking nothing but diet Coke.
2....I ask an editor what types of art and fiction he'd consider for his magazine and he responds, "I'll know it when I see it."
3....Guidelines that don't list the payment offered for illustrations.
4....Acceptance and rejections letters that tell me absolutely nothing.
5....Obnoxious drunks on airplanes.

Do I have a Real Life? ~ In real life, I'm married to a Romanian gypsy named Ivan. I have two daughters (Tasha Cavanna and Tyra Danielle). For more than a decade I had a pet piranha fish named Pirate; I now have a 5-year-old goldfish named Cleo. I spend the majority of my holiday time on Waikiki Beach on Oahu, or in front of a slot machine in Deadwood, South Dakota, or in a keno lounge in Las Vegas. Here at home, I enjoy reading (mostly short story collections and novels), flower gardening, and growing exotic houseplants. In August 2001 I built a rock fishpond in my yard with my own two hands. I also grow valiant grapes, which is an amazing accomplishment considering I live in a place we laughingly refer to as The Great White North.
